Flexible Working Taskforce Launched

The Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy (BEIS), has set up a task-force to promote wider understanding and implementation of flexible working. This follows the publication of the Taylor Report into modern employment practices.

The task-force will bring together policymakers, employer groups, unions, and professional bodies. One of it’s first priorities will be to take on the Prime Minister’s challenge to businesses to improve workplace equality by advertising all jobs as flexible from the first day of employment.

It will be chaired by Peter Cheese, Chief Executive of the CIPD, who commented ” Flexible working is key to unlocking employment and progression opportunities across many under-represented groups in the labour market. It can also play a crucial role in an organisation’s performance through enabling better work-life balance, improving employee engagement and retention and key outcomes including productivity and delivering more flexible service to customers.”
